The Challenge

bol.com is the dominant e-commerce platform in the Benelux, with over 10 million monthly visitors and 30,000+ third-party sellers. The Plaza seller dashboard had to surface order management, product listings, and performance analytics in real time for all those merchants. On the consumer side, every pixel of the webshop was A/B tested, and even small regressions could impact millions in revenue.

My Contribution

Built core frontend modules for the Plaza seller dashboard: order tracking, product listing management, and sales analytics with drill-down charts. As the sole frontend specialist across 4 teams growing to 8, my time was formally divided — teams held meetings to prioritize which epics got it.

Built an AngularJS proof of concept between the regular work, brought a junior developer along, and pitched it to four engineering leads. After the go, built a shared component library with its own component catalog — before Storybook existed — adopted across the frontend squads. On the consumer webshop, implemented responsive product pages and checkout-flow improvements behind A/B tests.

Key Results

  • Seller dashboard used daily by 30,000+ merchants for order and product management
  • AngularJS adoption approved by four engineering leads after a working prototype and presentation
  • Shared component library with its own catalog (pre-Storybook), adopted across the frontend squads
  • Sole frontend specialist serving 4 teams growing to 8 — teams scheduled meetings to divide my time
